✨ Countdown to Jupuary 2025: Info & Discussions

This is not enough detail though. If your point is that information is deleted afterwards then you are blindly trusty that these protocols are in place.

I have worked in multiple companies that deal with PII/sensitive/financial data. The attitude of someone collecting personal data and deleting data and the customer/user expecting that to actually happen is iffy at best. There is a reason the EU introduced GDPR: to keep the companies in place.

Not that I don’t trust the JUP team but we shouldn’t be even putting them into that spot to begin with.

If we are proposing some KYC I want it to be specific in what is being requested. It’s easy to just hand wave it and that someone will come up with something sensible but we are here to discuss proposals so you should add more detail in what you think is sensible so the team can hear everyone’s voices.

Thanks for the discussion. I haven’t got much to contribute further. It’s been an interesting exchange!

You could be right, perhaps they find a different way to do a Sybil check that doesn’t give a wrong impression, even if it was not intended as kyc.

I think they should use a type of bubble map to see connected wallets but choose the most active one if it’s only a few wallets and disregard larger clusters. Use information that is tied to users usage and then add perhaps a email link. Or use a third party app that holds the information in a private capacity that users would need to sign up for. Perhaps with an email. This would make it enough work so most won’t bother claiming more than a few wallets if the amount was low.

I think it is about perspective regarding voting. The perspective could be how much Jup can I get by positioning my arguments in ways that support my needs. Or it could be what is truly best for the ecosystem I believe in. Depends on how attached one is to either. Depends on what other private factors are involved. That’s why the Dao needs to evolve to a place where self interest doesn’t really affect it.

I think crypto was created to foster decentralised decision making and non inflationary currencies. To guard against centralised abuse. Be it governments or individuals. Hopefully Jupiter including others, can be a good exsample to the crypto community. At present most are blinded by the shear money that can be made in the space.
The way I think about it is a simple one. My daughter could use that money but she could use a nice world to live in probably more. Hope that’s not too personal

If only everyone had that mentality! A good way to put it.

I think a map is a good way to look at it. I think looking at activity after the cutoff would also be an interesting way to approach the issue.

Updated with a link where you can follow the voting results. This may be the last update as I, and many others are hoping this one will pass. And so it seems like. :tada: :tada: :tada:
