Art is and has always been the ultimate flex. The epitome of wealth and the greatest store of value. Exchange Art is empowering the next generation of Warhol, Basquiat, and Rothko. They are the leading art marketplace on Solana, and with Jupiter’s help - they’ll be the premium art market on any chain.
Besides that, the ticker $ART is genius.
Hi I’m Lights, the first photo artist on Solana, and Exchange Art is the best market I’ve ever worked with. High integrity and passion for artists. This is a no brainer YES for me. And a huge win for the ecosystem.
I have been minting art on Solana since early 2022 after starting on Tezos a year before. I have dealt with platforms on Tezos, Cardano, NEAR and Etherium, and seen quite a few come and go or stagnate.
During this time, through the dark moments of the bear, with the FTX collapse and the shrinking of the overall NFT market, one thing I could always see was Exchange Art’s unyielding commitment to it’s core idea of creating an art market that can sustain careers of it’s artists.
At the same time they were always responsive to feature requests and kept adapting and evolving and showing a robustness that other platforms couldn’t get close to.
Exchange Art and it’s amazing team and leadership have been a core proponent in pushing the Solana art scene on, in the crypto space and also out into the wider art world.
I have been following their development of the $ART token and feel that not only will it bring more value to the art eco system on Solana, but also could be up there as a great native culture coin like BONK. Something for the people that actually spend their time, energy and passion to inside this space rather than another coin to farm and pump.
Exchange Art is here to stay, and $ART could be too.
Exchange.art has changed many artist specially me, i make art for living they really care about the creators, i can see many big ethereum artist and collectors coming to exchange.art, it would be great for the ART token to launch with Jupiter.
I am a Digital artist and try to sell my NFTs on different platforms. But On Exchange.art It’s very simple and user-friendly to mint artwork. I sold my first artwork on this platform. Hope $ART is a good move from the team.
This is exactly the kind of company and platform that should be supported here.
The Founders have been building in the ecosystem since its inception and have always stayed building and bringing Solana and the artists on Solana value, even during the long crypto winter where they stayed not only active but stayed building.
DON’T FORGET - There have been peer platforms who took a lot of funding, promised the moon, and then closed up shop during the bear because they saw better opps elsewhere. EA has ridden through the storm and always carried the torch high for the ART space on Solana.
Furthermore - financially speaking they are generating real, tangible value (in terms of literal dollars flowing to the ecosystem) to the tune of tens of millions of dollars and are continuously generating more sales than the longer established ecosystem peers on ETH like Superrare and Foundation.
eA and their team are a very transparent and professional team which have been around personally since they started the whole project. I have met the Founders, devs and curators in person as they have been at many occasions which is NOT usually a thing you see from „community driven projects“. They send a spokes person.
eA is touchable and as you would say in one of the Dating Apps of 2024 they are „Family Oriented“. Exhibitions have been organised, funded and integrated in many Solana Foundation programms, artist gain spotlights and room to talk. Devs and Backend Staff is constantly working on support so they are really hands on any thing.
I‘m excited for a community token, obviously these short term token flushes accelerate sales growth as everyone involved gets „free money“ to spend on the site. Basically a store credit for art for the first period. Then I think it gets tricky to sustain a token, but have a look at Bonk. Many thought it to die out. Now back at the top! eA has very much the same partner base and backings as Bonk and good teachers in that sense so I am very fond of this project to go live.
Curious about one thing from the jump: ExchangeArt’s “wen airdrop” teaser is a bit infamous at this point… was there originally a plan to release a token that has now pivoted to launching on LFG? Or was that always the plan, and just never shared publicly?
I would like to know why the fees for minting the Valentines Bonk NFT, were much higher than advertised on your site. We repeatedly asked you on Twitter but you ignored every message. I just wanted to know if it was a mistake on my part, your part, or the artist’s part.
I asked in Bonk discord and others had the same issue. Many of us in our group minted dozens of these NFTs, so the extra charge than what was advertised, was a considerable cost. We just wanted to know WHY the extra cost, but you wouldn’t answer.
Regarding the proposal; I’m not sure you have enough traffic to warrant a token, but perhaps launching on LFG would drive more to your platform. I would personally like to see a very successful, transparent platform for art creators on Solana, and you are in the prime position to be that. But going by the above complaint with lack of response to an issue we had, I would like to hear you would improve your customer communications.
Considering what’s running in this round, I will probably be voting for ExchangeArt, as I hate gambling projects, and we are overflowing with finance projects.
Good luck, and please take the time to answer my question from Feb, pretty please.
I think NFT art is a small niche. When it comes to art, I think most people prefer things they can touch and hold. Something that can be displayed that doesn’t feel like a copy. I guess I could print and display my NFT, but that sort of feels like a copy. I think you have to find a way to translate the digital art to the physical world. As it stands now, I would vote no. Perhaps some special digital picture frame that adds depth to your NFT when displayed might make it feel different. I feel there has to be something unique about it and your platform. Right now I don’t see it. Maybe artists could add narration and sound to the digital NFT. So if displayed you can tell it to play the narration for guests you have over, or if it was a picture of an ocean it could play the sounds of waves, something different is needed IMO.
I don’t think an airdrop and a launch on LFG have to be mutually exclusive…pretty sure the team mentioned they are doing an airdrop to historical users
IF the art piece was a one-off and the rights were transferred with the NFT, then I could see a purpose for buying the art .
Owning all rights to the piece, would allow the owner to sell prints or licence it for use in media etc.
As it stands now, I think you’re right about tangibility.
It was the plan for quite some time. For us it was important to leverage LFG to tap into a wider audience that weren’t necessarily our core user base that could help us collaborating in governance with a fresh and different perspective than the one from our current user base.
They (the hidden extra fees) went to the same wallet, if I remember correctly. As I said in my post, I wanted to know what the extra fees were for, so we contacted you several times from different Twitter accounts to ask. All messages were ignored.
I get the feeling EA isn’t very good at communicating across the board.
Glad to see a project about creators, competition is fierce though.
I have some experience with Mallow and Solarplex, would you mind sharing an idea or two about what makes you a better home for creators compared to platforms like these two?
Cheers,
I’m the CEO of DRiP, a competitor of sorts within the overall creator ecosystem on Solana.
I have criticized EA in the past, including over the potential of a token. And there is not a lot of love lost between myself and the founders. They have criticized DRiP privately and publicly in different ways, as have I them.
However, the reality is that ExchangeArt has been a pillar of the Solana art community, and Solana broadly. They’ve been a force of culture, and have brought many artists into our blockchain, and helped hundreds or thousands make a living through their art on Solana. They are, and have been for most of the last few years, the pre-eminent art auction platform and art collecting platform on our blockchain.
A token launch through Jupiter will help accelerate on-chain art on Solana, and help EA and Solana differentiate from marketplace competitors on other chains.
EA has been here for years, and will be here for years after this TGE. They will never stop building and improving their product, that is for sure.
I fully support the launch of $ART through Jupiter, and hope all will vote in favor with me.
Last time I checked, and correct me if I’m wrong, a collection created on EA couldn’t be seen in other marketplaces (I think you weren’t utilizing Metaplex Certified Collections at the time, but I may be wrong). Also, the validation process, while I appreciate the efforts to fight scams and counterfaits, was a bit cumbersome (i.e., one had to send videos of themselves creating the NFTs). I’m mentioning these two aspects because the key here is adoption and I believe that those details mentioned, among others, have relegated EA in the past to a small niche within the niche of the NFT community.
What are your plans, if any, to “open” yourselves to a more broad audience, and (how) are you planning on competing with other “giants” of Solana such as Magic Eden or Tensor? Or do you still prefer to be a market of/for independent artists?
