J4J #3: Jupuary Vote 2

Democracies use super majorities all the time. It’s a key feature of them. Most referendums use it as having a 51-49 split is too damaging to social cohesion on contentious issues.

Non democracies don’t vote. Period. You have no say. So let’s cut the hyperbole please.

Broadly in agreement again. I was a soft YES last time and I’m likely the same again.
Controversial take: Don’t exclude bots.
The reasons being:

  1. You can easily see extractive vs valuable bots on chain via profits. People who are running an airdrop strategy are very different to genuine market participants. You want advanced traders to be running their strategies on Jupiter. Their volume and fees benefit all JUP holders. Excluding them doesn’t make any sense as they’re some of your best users. You could just include only profitable bots in the calculations. That’ll kill all airdrop bots as they’re never profitable by themselves (i.e., with the airdrop not factored in).
  2. Trying to define a bot vs a non bot is very hard. I work in cyber sec, billions of dollars are spent each year in my industry trying to do this. Many thousands of very talented fraudsters in industrial scale fraud farms are working to make this hard to do every day. You have Buckleys Chance of doing better what an entire industry (cyber sec) struggles to do well now. So don’t try. Focus on value generated and let people automate whatever they want. Farmers soon give up once they realise they have to work for it. But a genuine user who has found a clever way to automate some of their contributions shouldn’t be punished. If the contributions are valuable then it shouldn’t matter.

I voted yes on both proposals, i see it as a gift and i don’t like to put caveats on a gift. It is what it is, we get what we get, looking forward now

No one is focusing on what others have. We are saying that using voting power in itself is a very bad idea. Just simple logic.

Gm, you can get voting power by staking $JUP at https://vote.jup.ag
Voting power is linearly equal to your staked funds long as no unstaking process has been started. ASRs (Active staking rewards) are also linearly depended on your voting power.

I missed the furst Jupruary vut made the WEN drop. So i boughtin and staked/voted. Like alot of stakers im under 1000 vote power. Can there be a bonus Jupruary 2025 made for under 1000 staked, with a 1 year curve? Locking this up for 1 year would weed out the ones less likely to stick around, farmers ect. There should be increased incentives for Jupruary 2026 for the whole dao but mainly for low vote power stakers as it boosts their voting power for 2025 and locks them in for a year along with increased ASR from staking 2025 to 2026. I know everyone level of voter would want to lock for bonuses, but its the lower vote power people thst need that push across the finish line that or need to claim it and sale it. Either way, seperating the believers and the othrs would benefit 2026 Jupruary as well as encourage commitment/involvement.

Okay, now I agree more. But still, why to reward ASR stakers with Jupuary is kinda a good question… But it depends heavily on the allocation. But good job with handling all stupid fud. In JUP we trust!
