Discussion: Abstain Option

Thank you for this. How enlightening, and also, how disturbing. This is a clear example (thank you again) of how abstain is so terrible and needs to be removed from the process entirely. Much food for thought and I hope what you’ve written ‘shifts the dial’ away from Abstain voting options.

Thanks for all the opinions so far! Know that it is appreciated.

It’s also clear to me that there exists a lot of different opinions, and more importantly a lot of different interpretations as to what “Abstain” is, and they can’t all be true at the same time. Very interesting.

I agree in most of the comments in here. I don’t understand the Abstain option, the way I see it, if you’re not happy to say Yes, then say No. Or if you’re not happy to say No, then say Yes. Abstain means nothing really.

Diplomatically speaking in regards to your arguements about the abstain issue.
You would have to look back into the historicasl Parlimentary procedures of many countries and cultures to define what the implications of “Abstain” means. Myself, am a “No Contest”, man.

I think a good way to make the ‘‘abstain’’ option more meaningful would be that if the majority vote abstain (maybe because they like the idea but don’t agree to the terms) the team can go back to the discussion table and make a counterproposal or offer a more detailed proposal based on the concerns/feedbacks floated during the first voting. Making that so I think would make the choice more impactful but more importantly it opens a better dialogue between teams and community and also open a door for the community to partecipate partially in the shaping of the proposals

What should prevail among us is good humor, effective communication, and respect. There is a proverb that highlights the benefits of maintaining a multipartisan dialogue where different perspectives can converge in a good understanding through the counsel of many. “In the multitude of counselors there is wisdom.” I hope that our debate continues to be enriched with more viewpoints and ultimately contributes to the improvement of the processes. May our intention always be constructive, as we consider Jupiverse a family. :writing_hand: best wishes

**What it really means is that you were present for the vote, but for whatever reasons, political , economics, constitute backlash, etc…It’s the safe way to say "I was there, but didnt want to commit. You were involved without any skin in the game.
