If they were to get this kind of engagement and much more on instagram and the Asian counterparts (where big bags of money are: South Korea’s KaKao, Line in Japan and others, as well as the Chinese apps - supposedly China will unban crypto, not sure) I think that would really help reach more people who are not into crypto and might truly help bring fresh numbers and money to the solana ecosystem, then maybe the DAO money would be worth it
I hear you, I have never been on tiktok and will never be, but then again, many of us who are already in the space don’t do things like most normies who don’t care about crypto today do, that’s the very reason why many of us adopted crypto early to begin with!
While the current metrics in the proposal provide a solid foundation, there are a few more we should consider to get a full picture:
Viral Content: Aim for at least one video to reach over 1 million views.
Community Engagement: Track the average engagement rate (likes, comments, shares) per video/post.
Content Sharing: Monitor the number of shares each piece of content gets.
For the budget, we should:
Review Quarterly: Have regular check-ins every quarter to see how we’re doing against our goals and provide detailed reports on how the budget is being used.
Plan for Underperformance: If we’re not hitting our targets, be ready to shift funds from areas that aren’t working to those that show promise.
Get Community Feedback: Regularly ask the community what they think of our content and make adjustments based on their feedback.
Reallocate Wisely: If we need to reallocate more than 10% of the budget, let’s propose a new vote to get everyone’s buy-in.
Stay Flexible: Keep the microgrants and bounties flexible so we can quickly respond to new opportunities or challenges.
Explore New Channels: Consider expanding our presence to other popular content platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat to reach new audiences.
By adding these metrics and having a clear plan for using and reallocating the budget, we can stay on track and make sure our resources are being used effectively to grow and engage our community.
I love the J.U.P weekly planetary calls; they’re super positive and very informative. Thanks Uplink team for coming up with this idea to educate us with the happenings around Jupiter. The closing POAP are always lit. Shout out to Srijani for the creative designs.
And, sleeves up; I am ready to vote as YES.
P.S: I also learned that about the Monthly Solana Ecosystem call and signed up for it too!
Take the operational budget, that’s fair (hardly lol) but no token allocation… CWG already milked our treasury, and now UPLINK ?.. Team need to find a way to reduce marketing labour, find content creators that are not living in a 1st world country!.. I’m pretty sure most of you wont agree, but this is based on my perspective who live in SEA makin 2k USD permonth working 9-5, 6 days/week. allocating 2.5million(JUP=1usd) to a 6 man marketing team is ridiculous imo… just imagine if JUP got to 10USD???(wont happen if we keep draining our treasury)
Expensive marketing, plus did the CWG already commit to marketing?
Why we burning our funds on something that honestly doesn’t bring new users. The only people watching these YouTube vid are us. Plus, look at the limited views these vids are getting .
A lot of discussion has been had about the amount of funds being spent and with a lot of these projects, money needs to be sent on marketing. Whether this proposal is right or wrong, we can allow everyone to vote and have their say on the day. The only request that I would have is that very clear targets and KPI are included so in the future we can easily compare what has been achieved.
The proposal on the Uplink Working Group budget is a comprehensive and well-thought-out document aimed at fostering collaboration within the Jupiter Research community. It outlines the financial requirements and strategic objectives necessary to advance the group’s initiatives. The detailed breakdown of expenses, alongside clear goals, demonstrates a commitment to transparency and efficiency.
This collaborative effort underscores the strength of community engagement in driving innovation and achieving common goals. By securing the proposed budget, the Uplink Working Group can continue to enhance its contributions, furthering the progress and unity of the Jupiter ecosystem!!!
I agree. Initially, there is a focus on crypto people. But this is all changing. The easiest group to attract is our audience, and with more views, we can add videos to capture the new people
So, I have been running my personal YouTube channel for quite some time, a few years.
I have also worked with other creators.
A couple of my views. 1, the growth desired from here on could be massive so the JUP channel is one of the largest in crypto.
Also, since February I have been assisting with full time hours on youtube, and with editing.
I have used over 6 editors that with part time rates cost more than $2k each.
I don’t know what you are comparing this too. Because I put out feelers and constantly had quotes way too high.
No other DApp has a successful channel. This will grow and grow, and I think the value will be obvious in no time.
For reference, right now, go to earn.superteam.fun and have a look at the video bounties, vs the twitter bounties.
The video bounties are much higher, normally over $500USDC for 1st place, and a twitter bounty is $150 normally.
Not only that, they tend to have only a few entries for videos, and over 50 for twitter threads.
Really like to see differing opinions, so please don’t view any of this as aggressive debating, it isn’t. Would love to see your comparison metrics though.
this is an interesting dynamic. Some feel compensation rates are too high, some too low. Everybody has an idea on what an appropriate ‘spend’ would be, and almost none of them match exactly with any other…ish.
We are a multinational DAO with people from all corners of the world coming together under the Jupiter umbrella…held by @meow.
I have my own thoughts about budget and costs and value…but those are wholly subjective and based on my personal upbringing and financial needs.
I will NOT be attempting to push my narrow budget views on a global community. Instead, i will use Meow as my North Star.
Meow is both the co-founder of Jupiter Exchange, and also the mind behind the WG concepts and implementation.
I came here to join something Awesome…not force my views on a community that won’t appreciate it.
If Meow is happy with the JUP allocations, then so am i. He specifically said in one of the AMAs earlier that there should be a LARGER allocation. I’m not sure if he was joking or not, but he clearly is not concerned with our budgetary conversations.
I signed up for Jupiter as my space ship and Meow as my Captain. I will support his vision until/unless he demonstrates that he is no longer worth following.
Maybe i’m a fanboy. I’m okay with that.
Imagine if we had a presence on all social media platforms, interacting with NON-Jup, NON-crypto accounts, playing our pipes and bringing in the masses. We need a presence on ALL social media platforms. I don’t know if folks know this or not…but Community is what makes a project successful (that and pimp tech). It’s the Word that we bring that will guide the retail masses to our corner of crypto heaven. COMMUNITY does that.
How do we grow our pie? By sending the Catdet army out there into the world and spread the message of what an awesome project and community Jupiter has.
For that, we need a foundation. The Uplink WG is a large part of that implementation, and therefore deserves our full support. at the very least to the same level as our fearless leader.
The DAO treasury exists to push the message. I mean, that is LITERALLY what it’s for. Treating our DAO as a piggy bank that we need to keep full and untouched is the biggest folly. in two years, our treasury will almost certainly be a fraction of the value it is now…even an awesome community isn’t immune to a bear market…but if we expend resources while they are valued high, and while we need the growth, then we are extracting the full value of our DAO.
Sorry for the babble…I fully support both our WG structure in general and Uplink specifically.
my 200 JUP is voting ‘hell yes’
so far my concern is most of our members are very ‘generous’ when it come to proposals. Just look at the replies, literally there are only 3 people who actually show some skepticism ( out of 90 comments). 1million USD (approx) compensation per person is too much imo… plus it seem to me the team we had is not diverse enough. If we really want to be global we need to atleast have some mandarin/korean/indian/latin/arabic speaking personnel/staff . If we want to spend million on marketing we need to look to explore new markets. we already have enough contents for 1st world english speaking audience.
