One of the last remaining pieces in Jupiter’s mission to become a truly all-in-one DeFi super app is a native, self-custodial off-ramp. Today, users still need to rely on centralized exchanges to convert crypto into fiat, which creates an unnecessary break in the user experience and holds back adoption.
It’s time we solve this.
Imagine if users could spend their USDC directly from their Jupiter wallet using a Visa card, receive an IBAN for payments, and fully exit into fiat without ever touching a centralized platform. An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standardized banking number that allows users to send and receive fiat payments, like salaries or SEPA transfers, just like with a traditional bank account.
With Jupiter’s infrastructure and track record of integrating the best protocols in the space, this vision is within reach.
In fact, the infrastructure already exists. There are protocols offering self-custodial Visa cards tied to on-chain wallets, complete with IBAN support and open APIs. These services already collaborate with major DeFi ecosystems and are gaining traction fast.
The only challenge is that most of these protocols are built on Ethereum. But with our existing integration with deBridge, this is easily overcome. Cross-chain bridging can be abstracted away to ensure a seamless experience for Solana users.
Recently, I came across Gnosis Pay, a protocol that already provides exactly this functionality: a self-custodial Visa card with IBAN support and a permissionless developer stack. They are already integrated with several DeFi applications and are pushing the limits of real-world crypto utility. I believe a strategic partnership or acquisition here would be a perfect fit for Jupiter.
